Sunday Morning

The Easter Bunny, in his recent absent-mindedness, forgot a bag at Target that he purchased on Friday, so he had to run back over at about 9:30 on Saturday night. All's well that ends well, though. Gabe and Sarah were both happy with their baskets. Of course, little Sarah got toys and clothes instead of the usual chocolates.

Other Lopez news you might find interesting (or boring, whatever):
  • Phillip and I are exploring other getaway options besides Vegas. We are going to talk it over with his parents on how long they are willing to put up with the kiddos and take it from there. We've found some great deals and Vegas is a still an option but not the most economical.
  • I'm 7 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight!
  • Sarah is doing so much better. She's waking up happy and drifting off to sleep without much effort on our parts to put her there. She is on a different formula than I mentioned before; though we still give her a bit of the old one to sometimes put something more on her stomach (I've found she favors the newer formula a bit more than the rice mixture, but sleeps an hour or so more on the rice stuff). I bet ya that she weighs about 10-11 lbs by now!
  • Gabe has just a few more weekends of soccer at most for this spring.
  • Phillip had to work for Easter but we were still able to attend mass with him and then have a nice lunch at a chow hall (his job for the day required that he inspect it, so we ate there with him). Gabe loved that experience!
  • We are about to schedule Gabe's 6th birthday party. Looks like it will be at the gymnastics place that we had the 4th and 5th parties at. He loves that place!
I think that's about it for now. Have a good week, Ya'll!

Easter Weekend continued...

I told ya that she slept for most of the day! Here she is, enjoying the warmth of Ms. Christie's shoulder.
It did not take long at all for the temptation of the pool to bring the kids in.
He said he wasn't cold, but he's a little fibber. His lips were blue. What kind of mother am I? We didn't let them stay in long....how could we say no and spoil all the fun?
Abe had fun of his own. I took this picture just as he let go of the frisbies with his mouth! Duke, the lab, won the game. Poor Abe.
And so this is about the time that we told them that the fun was over....

Easter Weekend

Phillip, Gabe and I dyed eggs on Saturday morning. We then made a chicken and sausage gumbo to take over to Rob and Margaret's house for a day-early Easter celebration (Phillip had to work for Easter).
Sarah could not be left out on the fun.
Gabe, Zane, and Austin (not pictured) had fun with an Easter egg hunt.
It took a while to find these. (look at the eyes)
Sarah had tons of fun too! She slept for most of the day.

Playing Dress-up

I'm sorry guys. I don't know what's cuter....Daddy so lovingly dressing Miss Sarah or her enjoying it so much. She had that little look on her face afterwards as if to say "Am I pretty?".

This month in pictures...

What can I say? I was relaxed and in a different state of mind....having fun cuddling with my two kiddos.
Yep, Gabe planned another party for Sarah. This time, it was her one month anniversary.
She's fattening up on formula. Her acid reflux has gotten so much better. She's now comfortable and happy...and we are more rested.
Gabe loves holding and feeding her. There was an interesting show on t.v. though, so he wasn't totally devoted to the task at hand.
He's wrapped!

Another update...

Yesterday, I took Sarah to the Pediatrician to see if the problems that we've been having are actually due to acid reflux. I gave the symptoms (spitting up, almost vomiting my milk, wanting to eat so often, doing better overall and more satisfied with formula etc.) and it took no time for him to come up with gastroenteritis and acid reflux. Sarah is now taking medicine twice a day for that and....okay, it's been a very hard decision for me, but she is now eating Enfamil AR which has a bit of rice cereal in it to help with the spitting up. I feel that is not worth the stress of having her nurse for 45 minutes and then expelling almost all of her stomach contents on me and everything else (after or during the nursing session), and THEN have to be topped off with formula. We are getting very little sleep here, but last night, she finally slept for 3 hour stretches (on the formula). So, I will wean her and we will no longer breastfeed. With the time that Phillip has left over here (I'm talking deployment), I think this family needs a little rest; we need to figure out what the problems are, and try to solve them so we can enjoy each other.

I know I'm rambling. Sorry. Just filling you in. Baby's cryin'...gotta go. Will try to give you more interesting info. and more pics when I can. I'll try to also talk about something else besides new baby....someday.

Update...

I hardly have any time for anything these days. Both kids are keeping us busy.

  • Sarah is doing better with the fighting sleep business these past few days. Gas drops, listening to me taking a shower, and car rides help her tremendously.
  • Phillip has been a HUGE help with letting me get a head start on sleep at night. We give her formula for her bedtime feeding and then I nurse for the rest of the night.
  • My mom left on Monday. I'm glad that she came out for a visit. Having an extra hand in the house was really nice. I admit that with Sarah's issues for the week that she was here, I was a bit of a basket-case. I think that she had lots of fun though, just getting the chance to be around her grand-children. Gabe loved the extra attention.
  • Gabe is doing great with everything. We had a Parent/Teacher conference yesterday and he is doing so well academically. I love listening to what he learns. He is very interested in science and loves watching the Discovery Channel.
  • Things are getting a bit easier. I still can't wait for things to get much better though.
  • I have lots of phone calls to make and return. I apologize for not keeping in touch with my friends and family. I hope ya'll understand.
  • We take walks in the afternoons and that seems to help with cabin fever etc.
  • We had a bit of a light snow last night. Gabe was so excited to see it this morning; he hardly ate his breakfast.
  • Gabe's allergy shots should be finished by mid-May, then he goes on Maintenance every two weeks. I can't wait for that to happen.
  • Phillip and I plan to take a trip together in late May. Possibly Vegas....yipppeeeeeeee!
  • Sarah will be baptised in April. We are looking at going back to Louisiana for the weekend of April 12th.
  • A year ago at this time, we were at Disney World. I want so very much to be back there now!
  • Did I mention that being cooped up in the house sucks? I get rest when I can and any free time I have is used up by doing housework etc. But again, I am fortunate to have my husband around to help. I feel for those who don't have that luxury, I really do.
That's about it for now. I'll try to post some pics soon.
